Ingredients:
- 10-12 ripe Roma tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preparation (20 minutes): Begin by washing the tomatoes. Slice them into 1/4 inch thick rounds. Removing the seeds is optional, but it can help in reducing the dehydrating time.
Seasoning (5 minutes): In a bowl, mix the olive oil, dried basil, oregano, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Gently brush this mixture onto both sides of the tomato slices.
Dehydrating (6-8 hours): Arrange the seasoned tomato slices on the dehydrator trays, making sure they don't overlap. Set your dehydrator to 135°F (57°C). Dehydrate the tomatoes for 6 to 8 hours, or until they are leathery and not sticky.
Cooling and Storage (30 minutes): Allow the dehydrated tomatoes to cool completely before storing. Place them in an airtight container; they can be stored for several months.
