This superb commercial peeler from Univex (model G-Peeler) excels at peeling root vegetables potatoes, carrots, parsnips and similar items but some ingenious operators have found it can also scale smaller fish and will even husk shellfish. However you choose to utilize this solidly-constructed stainless steel unit, it's easy to use and to set up. This unit operates by agitating and roughly "rubbing" the product units (say, potatoes) against one another and also against the included abrasive peeling disk; the peels and refuse are then rinsed away. No special plumbing installation is required since the G-Peeler can be connected to most standard faucets and can be operated on countertops or drain boards (a special "Univex 150 stand", expressly designed for this unit, is sold separately. A specially-designed discharge tube keeps splashing to a minimum during discharge; the entire unit is efficiently sealed to prevent leakage. With a powerful 1/3-horsepower motor this peeler will process about 20 pounds of food product per batch (in about two minutes, but results vary depending on the size and weight of individual food pieces.
